Waste Management Centre

About

Milandhoo's waste management centre was set up under the government's programme to deal with island waste; its electrical wiring was tendered in 2015. Under the "Saafu Raajje" Zone 1 regional waste project, compost-making and waste equipment was bought for Milandhoo and nearby islands in 2016–17. The island council runs the centre with its own pickups and machines, including a backhoe loader bought in December 2024 for MVR 870,000, and tendered a new waste shed in 2024; repairs to the shed were tendered in July 2026.
