About

Milandhoo suffers serious beach erosion, and the government has protected its shoreline in two phases built by MTCC. The first phase, mobilised in May 2022, built a 954 m rock revetment and 115 m of groynes worth MVR 34.6 million. A second phase, signed in October 2025 for MVR 50.4 million, adds a 712 m revetment and 228 m of groynes.

Phase 1 shown as completed

MTCC's project tracker lists phase 1 (PRJ-00366) as physically completed, 100% done, in its update of 15 February 2026. The work was awarded to MTCC on 8 November 2021 and the team mobilised on 7 May 2022, for a 954.43 m revetment and 114.56 m of groynes.

During President Muizzu's visit, MTCC signed for a 712 m revetment and 228 m of groynes worth MVR 50.4 million, to be completed within 210 days.
